SCHOOL PROGRAMS INCLUDE EDUCATION AND INTERVENTIONS FOR YOUTH ON A VARIETY OF SAFETY TOPICS
Preventing injury among children and youth requires a combination of providing safe environments and educating them to be safety-conscious so they can recognize and avoid risks.

The Safe & Healthy Communities' School Programs Committee works with parents and our local school system to address safety concerns in the community and provide age-appropriate activities that create awareness among children of the risks in their homes, school, and community. From walking-to-school education to poison prevention activities, the Committee focuses on injury prevention in a variety of areas.

The majority of injuries among children are preventable but it is the responsibility of the community, caregivers and educators to ensure that we are providing the safest possible environments for the children in the Assiniboia area. This means identifying and addressing potential risks and concerns as well as working together to provide our children with the proper education and awareness needed for injury prevention.
